我感到最自豪的一次经历英语作文
The Proudest Moment of My Life
I've had a lot of proud moments in my life so far, like when I finally learned to tie my shoes or when I got 100% on my spelling test. But my proudest moment happened last summer when I helped save a baby bird's life. It was the coolest thing that's ever happened to me!
It all started on a sunny Saturday morning. My dad was out mowing the lawn while I played in the backyard. I was digging in the dirt by the big oak tree, looking for worms and cool rocks. Suddenly, I heard a strange sound - it was kind of a chirping noise, but also kind of a screeching noise. I looked up and spotted a tiny baby bird on the ground near the tree. It must have fallen out of its nest!
The poor little thing looked so helpless lying there. It was moving around a bit and opening its beak, making that funny screeching sound. I knew I had to do something to help it. My first thought was to try putting it back in the nest. But when I looked up, I saw the nest was really high up in the branches. There was no way I could reach it, even if I stood on my tippy-toes.
I ran inside and yelled for my mom. \"Mom! Mom! Come quick, I found a baby bird and it needs help!\" My mom came rushing out and I showed her where the bird was. She told me not to touch it because the mother bird might have abandoned the baby if it had my scent on it. We watched the poor thing for a while, hoping the mother would come back for it. But no bird showed up.
After about half an hour, the baby bird started looking really weak. It was barely moving at all. That's when my mom said we needed to take action before it was too late. She went inside and got a small box and an old towel. Very gently, she scooped the baby bird up with the towel and placed it in the box.
We decided to take the box over to the animal rescue center on Maple Street. They would know what to do to save the little bird. On the way there, I couldn't stop staring at the box, listening for any sounds from the bird. A few times it let out some weak cheeps, which made me feel a little better that it was still alive.
When we got to the rescue center, we rushed inside holding the box. A nice lady named Mrs. Parker came over right away. She opened the box and examined the baby bird carefully. She said it looked like it was just a few days old and had probably
fallen from its nest. The poor thing was dehydrated and very weak from being out in the sun without its mother.
Mrs. Parker took the box into a back room to give the bird some fluids and food. While we waited, she told us that lots of baby birds get abandoned by their mothers or fall from their nests every year. If someone doesn't rescue them and bring them in, they don't survive for very long out there on their own. I felt so glad we had decided to help this one instead of leaving it in the backyard.
After about 20 minutes, Mrs. Parker came back out holding the bird wrapped up in a little blanket. It looked much better already - it was moving around a lot more and making louder chirping sounds. She said the bird would be just fine! They were going to take care of it at the rescue center and release it back into the wild when it was old enough. I felt so relieved and proud that we had saved its life.
On the way home in the car, I couldn't stop smiling from ear to ear. I felt like such a hero! My mom said she was really proud of me for finding the bird and insisting we get help for it. She knew how much I loved animals and that saving one, even a teeny tiny baby bird, meant so much to me. It was definitely the proudest I've ever felt in my whole life.
Ever since then, I've been telling everyone I know about the time I rescued a baby bird. My friends, my teachers, even my grandparents! Some of them didn't really seem to understand why it was such a big deal to me. But I don't care - I know what I did was important and amazing. That little bird's life was saved because of me. Just thinking about it makes me swell up with pride inside.
Someday when I'm older, I hope I can do something even bigger to help animals and nature. Maybe I'll become a veterinarian or a forest ranger or something. Whatever I end up doing, I'll always remember that day and how it felt to save that baby bird's life. It was an experience that will stay with me forever and keeps me dreaming of more ways I can make a difference in this world, no matter how small. To me, it will always be my proudest moment.
