我感到最自豪的一次经历英语作文
The Proudest Moment of My Life
Hi there! My name is Lucy and I'm 10 years old. I'm in the 5th grade and I love to read, do arts and crafts, and play soccer. Today I want to tell you about the proudest moment of my whole entire life so far. It was when I won the school science fair last year!
It all started when my teacher Mrs. Johnson told our class about the science fair. She said we could do any kind of science project we wanted, as long as we followed the scientific method. I had never done a science fair project before, but I was really excited to try it.
First I had to come up with an idea for my project. I spent a long time thinking about what I could do. I thought about growing plants in different kinds of soil or making a volcano out of vinegar and baking soda. But those ideas seemed kind of boring to me. Finally, I decided to do my project on something I'm really interested in - airplanes!
My dad is a pilot and he's taught me a lot about how airplanes fly. I know that the shape of a plane's wings is really important for letting it stay up in the air. So I decided to test out
different wing shapes and see which ones create the most lift. My question for the science fair was \"How does wing shape affect lift in aircraft?\"
Next I had to do research about wing shapes and lift. I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books about aerodynamics and aircraft design. I read all about things like airfoils, aspect ratios, and coefficients of lift. It was pretty complicated, but also really fascinating! My dad helped me understand some of the trickier concepts.
Then it was time to design my experiment. I decided to build a little wind tunnel out of a box fan and some cardboard tubes. I made different shapes of wings out of styrofoam and attached them to the end of the tubes. Then I turned on the fan and used a little tool to measure how much lift each wing shape produced. I tested triangular wings, curved wings, rectangular wings, and more!
Doing the experiment was really fun but also a lot of work. I spent weeks and weeks building my wind tunnel, shaping the different wings, and recording all my data. Sometimes I got frustrated when things didn't work right away. But my parents encouraged me to keep trying and never give up.
Finally, it was time for the science fair! I put together a big poster board explaining my project with lots of pictures and graphs. I also brought in my wind tunnel so I could do a live demonstration. When the judges came around, I explained my hypothesis, procedure, data, and conclusions. I was pretty nervous, but I had practiced my presentation so many times that I knew it like the back of my hand.
After all the judges had visited each project, it was time for the awards ceremony. They started handing out ribbons for third place, then second place. I tried not to get my hopes up too high, since there were so many great projects. But then, they announced the first place winner...and it was me! I had won the entire science fair!
I felt so incredibly proud as I walked up on that stage. All my hard work had paid off! The judges told me they were really impressed by how thorough my experiment was and how well I understood the scientific concepts behind lift and wing shapes. Hearing those comments made me happier than I've ever been. When I gave my acceptance speech, I thanked my parents and my dad for helping me so much. I also thanked Mrs. Johnson for encouraging our class to explore our curiosities through science. Most of all, I felt proud of myself for sticking with my
project even when it got difficult, and for pursuing something I'm truly passionate about.
Winning that science fair gave me more confidence than I ever dreamed possible. It showed me that with hard work, perseverance and following my interests, I can achieve amazing things. Even though I'm still just a kid, I know that I have the power to make discoveries and understand complex ideas if I put my mind to it.
That big shiny first place trophy still sits on the shelf in my bedroom. Every time I look at it, I remember the thrill of success and the feeling of immense pride in my accomplishments. More importantly though, it motivates me to take on new challenges with just as much enthusiasm as I did that fateful science fair project. Who knows, maybe one day I'll even become an aerospace engineer or pilot like my dad!
I hope you enjoyed hearing about my proudest moment. It just goes to show that with curiosity, hard work and
determination, you can make your dreams come true - even as a young kid. I'll never stop feeling pride over that extraordinary achievement. And I have no doubt that there are many more proud moments still to come in the future!
